Lake Manitou

Lake Manitou is a ground water and spring fed 700 acre lake.  It is conveniently located in Rochester, IN, on US31 approximately 120 miles from Chicago and 90 miles north of Indianapolis.  There are over 500 homesites on the lake and several dining establishments accessible by boat (see Local Dining).  Lake Manitou is an all-sport lake with no motor restrictions.

Lake and community residents support the local Lake Manitou Association which is a voluntary membership organization actively engaged in the betterment of Lake Manitou.  From annual social fundraisers and auctions to summer complementary kayak rentals, most area residents enjoy the comradary of this great organization.

Why we love Lake Manitou:

"Steve and I built our Lake Manitou home in 2006.  We love the fact that we can jet up to the lake from Indianapolis in a quick 1 1/2 hours and be back to get our kids to sports practice the next morning if need be.  It's a convenient vacation from our hectic, daily lives."  Sally Caltrider, Park Place and Carmel, Indiana

“This is our third summer on Lake Manitou and the weekends cannot get here fast enough!  We’ve held family reunions of 25 people plus the last two years and the memories for all involved are truly priceless.”  Greg Lernihan, Barrett Road and Barrington, Illinois

“The new Nickel Plate bike trail is an amazing attraction for Rochester and Lake Manitou.  To be able to cycle 35 miles, to Kokomo and 35 miles back on a beautifully paved road is phenomenal.”  Mike Roe, Park Place and Valparaiso, Indiana
